Black Women Expo Experience 2019 Recap

Written by: Kayla Peeples

This past weekend, Media Girls Network was live and in action at the 25th Black Women’s Expo presented by BET X Her.

Listen, anytime Black women link up you know it’s going to be lit and BWe did not disappoint in the area of lit-ness. Themed around the message #shematters, BWe filled the Georgia International Convention Center with a sea of seminars, live entertainment, and hundreds of vendors (Did you stop by our booth?), and Black women.

From panel discussions about women in business, sexual health, ways to protect financial assets, monetization in the digital space and securing the bag, BWe promoted the importance of women empowerment.

When class wasn’t in session in one of the many workshops and panel discussions attendees experienced fitness demonstrations, fashion shows, and live celebrity performances. Yes, BWe did not come to play.

MC Lyte deejayed during her “Rock The Block” set and turnt her performance all the way up. Tamika Scott—of Xscape— strutted down the main stage with an energized performance of her solo hits and classics from her girl group days. The music didn’t stop there. R&B songstress Elle Varner graced the main stage to perform a few of her hits like “Refill”.

The BWe Experience also offered attendees exclusive access to a panel interview with the cast of upcoming thriller film “Dear Frank” starring Brian White (a producer of the film), Claudia Jordan, Columbus Short, Torrei Hart, and Kearia Schroeder.

In case you weren’t able to make the BWe this year, head on over to our Instagram page @mediagirlsnetwork to relive the experience and keep an eye out for next year!
