Simone DeCarlo

This weekend Chloe Bailey was honored by the Atlanta City Council with her own day! The ‘In Pieces’ singer songwriter attended a ceremony on the campus of Morehouse College, declaring April 22nd as Chloe Bailey day. Chloe and her sister Halle gained the attention of R&B superstar Beyonce after making covers of songs posted on YouTube. The two were later signed to Beyonce’s to Parkwood Entertainment label. During the ceremony, Chloe shared her sentiments of how special this recognition was because many moments during her youth, happened right there near the Morehouse stomping grounds.

“To be honored this way in my hometown it just means so, so much! I’m just so blessed and grateful to God. I can’t believe this day. I can always call it Chloe Bailey day!”

Chloe said that it feels amazing being back home and that as a musician she is proud to say that she is from Atlanta because of artists who came before her like Outkast, Childish Gambino, and Ciara. While Chloe has received many awards and accolades, she spoke about the importance of mental health. “I am a huge advocate for mental health, and I never want anybody to feel like they have to go through life alone.” She has even teamed up with a non profit organization ‘Silence The Shame’ which aims to break the stigma surrounding the conversation of mental health.

During the ceremony, she was given her favorite flowers, sunflowers, and was greeted by several Morehouse students. The event was a part of the Morehouse College MVP weekend which welcomes its newly admitted students.
