Migos Rapper Takeoff Passes Away

By: Simone DeCarlo

Takeoff,  one third of the rap group Migos, has passed away. The Grammy nominated artist died in an unexpected tragic shooting on November 1st, 2022. Real name, Kirshnik Khari Ball, Takeoff was a part of a trailblazing sound of Atlanta hip hop. In 2016, the group climbed the US Billboard Hot 100 chart with their single ‘Bad and Boujee’. which had gone viral on social media.

Alongside Quavo, and Offset who were his family, Takeoff shared in a legacy of music that was a unique sound of their own. Hailing from the north side of the Atlanta metro area, the group was recognized for the ad libs in their songs. Takeoff released a solo project, 'The Last Rocket' in 2018 and more recently released a collaborative album with Quavo titled, 'Only Built For Infinity Links'. That album came just days before his death.

That legacy now cut short at the age of 28. He was fatally shot multiple times in Houston, Texas. Media Girls Network sends prayers and condolences to the families, loved ones and fans of Takeoff. Gone too soon. May he forever rest in peace.
