Are you ready for our ‘OWN’ Holiday Exhibition? The Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) invited us to a virtual press roundtable introducing their holiday line-up, so you know we had to share it with our Media Girls!
The event began with a beautiful opening message from Lady O herself! Although it was a general message, I imagined she was addressing me personally, lol. Ms. Winfrey prepared us for what to expect from the programs saying; “These movies are just the thing to get us in the holiday spirit!”
We then got started with the beautiful and very festive Emmy-award-winning host, Zuri Hall (Access Hollywood) interviewing the cast of the original cooking competition show; “The Big Holiday Food Fight”.
The competition is hosted by comedienne; Kym Whitley with celebrity judges, Gina Neely, Darnell “Super Chef” Ferguson, and James Wright Chanel. In this five-episode series, three home cooks compete against one another with family recipes in a multi-stage cook-off leaving only one chef standing at the end of each episode. Along with the title ‘King or Queen of the holiday table’, the winner will receive a Christmas stocking stuffed with $5,000 in cash. While we won’t get to see any of the cast cooking on the show, they did share that James Wright Chanel can and DOES cook almost anything in an Instant Pot and air fryer! Tune in to the OWN network tomorrow 11/16, at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT and the next week when it moves into its regular 8:00 p.m. ET/PT time slot on 11/23.
Next up is the original movie; “A Chestnut Family Christmas”; a holiday story about family acceptance starring Meagan Holder and Brad James.
Confusion ensues when a pastry chef resorts to pretending to own the house of her employer in order to shed the “black sheep” title she’s always held in her family. When secrets are uncovered and relationships are tested, will the Chestnut Family Christmas be ruined? Meagan and Brad shared that their favorite parts of Christmas are being in their family homes and matching Christmas onesies! They also revealed the overall message of the movie is that real friends and family will love you unconditionally. We all need to be reminded of this message sometimes, and the holidays are the perfect time to reinforce it! Tune in on 11/30 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT
The holiday season starts tomorrow on the OWN network! Almost every Tuesday, beginning 11/16 through 12/21, the OWN network will provide original holiday programming that will also air concurrently on discovery+ (check your local listings).
