Secure Da Bag, Sis: Shipt Shopper Review

So far, we've been learning how to secure the bag all 2019 and it's been a journey, hasn't it? We've shared some informative tips on places to work for the seasonal holiday and even side hustles you can work from home. However, we have a new side hustle review that we have to share and it's called Shipt.

Shipt is a grocery delivery service company that started in 2014 in Birmingham, Alabama. To put it in very few words: you literally get paid to do customers grocery shopping. How easy is that?

Not only is the work itself quite easy to pick up on but the application process is a breeze. In case you're someone who doesn't have the strongest resume or has been out of the workforce for an extended period, Shipt eliminates that stress.

Similar to its competitor, Instacart, Shipt pays you to shop a customer's grocery order and deliver it to the residence. If you spend a lot of time at grocery stores as I do, why not make money instead of spending money?

Application Process

The application process for Shipt was fairly easy. As aforementioned, you don't have to fill out page after page of an online application. You fill out your information and you're well on your way of potentially becoming a Shipt shopper.

From my personal experience, the acceptance rate was about 24 hours. That is to say, there's no guarantee that will be true for you. You fill out your personal information, answer some questions, and complete a short video interview. Once again, it was an easy process. Unlike Instacart, you don't have to complete a mandatory information session. As soon as you receive your welcome package you can start taking orders.

The cons: In completing your personal information, you have to fill out a tax form in the beginning. This may raise an eyebrow because you're filing tax paperwork and it's uncertain whether you'll even be approved or not to become a shopper.

The Shopping

Once you've been approved to be a Shipt shopper, they take you through new shopper courses to help you become familiar with the app and shopping experiences. I highly recommend taking your time reading the information because it'll come in handy when you start shopping.

You are in complete control of your schedule. You set your hours and choose what orders you want to claim when there are offers. However, it's up to you to set the momentum of your customer service. Once you receive your welcome package you can start whenever you're ready.

The cons: The flow of orders can be frequent or slow depending on many factors but primarily your location. When you first start Shipt, limits you from doing multiple orders in the same time frame until you deliver a certain amount of orders.

The Pay

Shipt payout is pretty simple to follow. An order has an estimated pay range but you don't know the exact payout until the order is delivered. If an order has a low pay you have the opportunity to make more with tips and additional (not always available) promo pay. Shipt only does direct deposit and pays on Fridays. However, there is just as much chance to rack up.

The cons: Although low pay orders can add up, it defeats the purpose if you're doing a lot of mileage to make money. Also, there is the chance that you won't receive any tips (even if you're on time and the order is accurate).

Who Should Do Shipt?

In less than a week of doing Shipt, I've made nearly $200. Now that sounds all nice and dandy, but a lot of time went into making that money. Yes, Shipt is easy money but it doesn't mean it'll fall right into your lap; you have to put in the work. That means giving great customer service, being on time, and making sure orders are accurate.

From my experience with Shipt, I would recommend the service for anyone who wants to learn how to have streams of income in an unconventional way. When I say unconventional, I just mean outside the typical 9-5 environment. College students can benefit greatly doing Shipt because it doesn't compromise their studies. Stay-at-home parents can make extra money while the kids are in school. And if you're like me--tired of punching the clock--you can discover a new way to a side hustle.

To learn more about Shipt, visit their website and do some extra reading to figure out if it's a good fit for you. Go secure that bag!
