See it...Touch it...Obtain it: Starz launches BMF Premiere Screening in Atlanta

Two words...BLACK EXCELLENCE!! Starz network premiered its latest original series BMF on Thursday, September 23rd inside of the Cellairis Amphitheatre at Lakewood. The entire venue was dripping in melanin magic, and Media Girls Network caught everything from red carpet exclusives to behind the scenes action. The theme and dress code for this star studded event was all black, black tie attire to represent the new non fiction drama. Curtis 50cent Jackson hosted the event and expressed his gratitude to the talented writers, producers, directors, and all star cast that collectively captured the shows authenticity.


BMF (Black Mafia Family) is based on a true story that takes place in Detroit, Michigan, the series depicts the life of popular drug lords Big Meech and his brother Southwest T. It is a story of brotherhood, and it shows how they used the family drug business to create many opportunities for those who suffered from poverty. Show producer and hip hop mogul 50cent picked up the project following his success of his productions; Starz series Power, Powerbook 2, Raising Kanan, and ABC’s For Life. He collaborated with show writer and producer Randy Huggins and multi talented actress and director Tasha Smith. The show is highly anticipated featuring an all star cast including All Americans Da’Vinchi,Snoop Dogg, Kash Doll, Russell Hornsby, and many more.

Demetrius Flenory Jr. better known as lil Meech is the star of the show, portraying and embodying his biological father Big Meech. This is lil Meech’s acting debut, but after this jaw dropping performance it surely won’t be his last. Media Girls Network CEO and correspondent Jelisa Raquel caught up with lil Meech on the red carpet and asked him what steps he took to prepare for this role. “50 came and got me from Miami and put me in acting classes in LA for 2 years,2 times a day 5 days a week, intense acting classes.” The classes have surely paid off because BMF is a great start for his acting career, and we can’t wait to see what the future has in store for him.



Rapper/actress Kashdoll shows off her baby bump on the BMF Premiere Red carpet on Thursday, September 23rd.


Rapper and newly acquitted actress Kash Doll is another newly found actress. Jelisa caught up with her to discuss her preparation for the role, the Detroit native said that she worked to capture the authentic Detroit woman. “This is a big story, to grow up and hear about it so much and finally be a part of it and this is my debut I’m like overjoyed.” Not only did the rapper make her first acting debut, she also shared exciting news of her pregnancy! The rapper/actress was dressed in an all black mock neck dress that showed off her baby bump in high fashion. She radiated in an effortless glow and the soon to be mother shows no signs of slowing down.


The hour-long drama premiered conveying laughter, admiration, and shock throughout the crowd. The newly acquitted series was well worth the wait but I can’t give you too many details on the episode, you can witness the greatness for yourself on Starz network. After the premiere of the first episode, the audience was spoiled with a concert featuring 50cent, Moneybagg Yo, DaBaby, Jeremiah, T.I, Flo Rida, Lil Duval, and the one and only Snoop Dogg. The concert was the perfect way to end the night, legendary artists got on stage to celebrate an honorable series that pays homage to a legendary story.
